On May 20, 2015, James Anthony Allgeier passed peacefully at home in his sleep.
James was born in Denver, Colorado on November 11, 1965 to Catherine (Gittlein) Allgeier and Donald Maurice Allgeier.
The youngest of 5 siblings, he was easy going and generous. This beautiful little strawberry blonde baby grew up to be an amazing son, brother, husband and father.
There were many adventures and moves in James life, beginning with a move to Germany with his family when he was just 1 year old. He lived in both Hutterscheied, then Wissmensdorf, a small German village in the Ardennes Forest and Mosel River Valley. He traveled with his family to such places as Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria.
James returned with his family back to the United States in 1968, settling in Layton, Utah where he attended EM Whiteside’s Elementary and Central Davis Junior High. He loved playing baseball and was involved in many Little League teams. He also enjoyed golfing, learning to golf with his brother, Tom at a very young age. Growing up in Utah with all the outdoors had to offer, he became a great skier at a very young age in the rustic Utah mountains. James and his brothers Tom and Don were also avid fishermen, spending lots of treasured time together in Adams Canyon, hiking and fishing. As all Allgeier children, James also learned to play both the piano and the violin.
James and his family moved back to Denver, Colorado in 1981, where he attended Manuel and East High School. He excelled in sports…playing Football and Wrestling, meeting his future wife, Veronica. As high school sweethearts, they later moved to West Palm Beach, Florida and married in 1984. James and Veronica returned to Denver in 1985 where James was employed with Brahma Manufacturing as a salesman. Missing the ocean, James and Veronica returned to Florida in 1997 settling in Sarasota. They later divorced.
James was one of the lucky few who had the opportunity to take a long sabbatical enjoying a “Jimmy Buffet” lifestyle. Spending time on the beach and with friends, James met his next love, Teresa Alvarez. Teresa enjoyed the beach life also and they soon welcomed a beautiful daughter, Paige Anne Allgeier born July 30, 2001. James and Teresa joined in marriage on Treasure Island, October 12, 2002, surrounded by family and friends. They welcomed a second daughter to the family, Hannah Rae Allgeier on January 7, 2004. James, Teresa and the family enjoyed many happy years in St. Petersburg where he excelled in his career as a Spirits Distributor serving Albertsons and ABC locations over a 300 mile area.
James returned to Denver and the mountains he loved in 2012, spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors. He loved Colorado and embraced once again fishing and the serenity of nature.
James (or Jim/Jimmy as most of his family and friends called him) was a rare gem. Always the easy going one, very loving and non judgmental. He was the family peace keeper. His daughters will always remember him as a positive and happy influence in their life…his sisters and brother all agree he was the very best of all of us.
James is survived by his wife Teresa Alvarez-Allgeier, two daughters, Paige Allgeier (age 13), Hannah Allgeier (age 11) and step-son Alex Fortenbery. One brother, Thomas (Charity) Allgeier and two sisters, Lizabeth Gish and Diane (Jay) Waddoups. Mother, Catherine Allgeier.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations for his surviving children. Donations can be sent to:
