Jeanne Eleanor (Edmunds) McClure Ghent

Jeanne Eleanor Ghent, age 95, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Jeanne was born November 7, 1925 in Allen, KS to William and Pearl Edmunds. During WWII she met and fell in love with John McClure. They married in 1944 and moved to Colorado. During the war Jeanne moved back to Kansas to give birth to her first daughter, Kelly. When the war ended she returned to Colorado with her little daughter Kelly to be with her husband.

John and Jeanne's family grew with the additions of Jeanette in 1948, Janice in 1951, and Julie in 1957. She was active in the Aurora community for many years. She was a part of the Toastmasters while her husband was a real estate agent, and she really enjoyed Sunday Service at Burns Memorial Methodist Church. Her fondest job in the early years was being a mother. Nothing was better.

In her later years she lived in her favorite cabin she designed in Shawnee, Colorado. She would travel down from Shawnee to Denver everyday to work at the Bell telephone company. She didn't mind the rain, snow, or ice because she loved her cabin, and she loved the mountains. She had a fondness for nature and feeding the woodland animals.

Jeanne was talented as a seamstress, she loved collecting and making miniatures, and sitting down to read her historical fiction and Christian novels. As her daughter's grew so did the love Jeanne had for her 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many great, great grandchildren.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Veda, Helen, Ruby, and Harold; husband, John; her companion for many years, Duane; and her daughters, Jeanette and Julie. Those left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Kelly (David) and Janice (Keith); her brother, Don; her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Jeanne will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Aurora. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 South Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80247.

A gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 1:30-4:30pm at Sterling Hills Community Clubhouse.
