Nik was born in Flemington, New Jersey to Agnes and John Savastinuk. He grew up surrounded by a large family including his older brother Aksenti John “AJ”, his younger brother Philip, and younger sisters, Pauline and Theresa.
In the early 70’s his family was temporarily transferred to Colorado. Nik chose to stay in Colorado and finish out his highschool years at Cherry Creek High School and then continued on to Adams State College. It was the second week in college when a spitfire named Debi asked him out on a date and they were married shortly after.
Nik’s true passion was music. Whether it was playing his favorite guitar “Lester” or tickling the ivories, Nik did it all in his bands. Music was his passion and he loved to play, sing, and jam with the best of them. He surrounded himself with friends and artists that could jam together for hours and make the happiest of memories creating amazing music together. He loved writing, recording and listening to music, especially rock. When he wasn’t jamming out you could find him rocking out at concerts or cheering on his Broncos and Rockies.
Nik is survived by his wife Debi Savastinuk, his daughter Notasha Mauzy and her husband Chris along with their children Tanner and Kelsi Mauzy; his son Nicholas and his children, Mike and Samantha and his daughter Natalie Savastinuk and her fiance Dana Silva.
