It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Scott Gardiner has to announce his passing on the 19th October 2023 at the age of 66. Scott or Scottie as he was known was a much-loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle nephew, cousin and great friend to many.
Scott was born on the 10th of March 1957 in his Gran Moore’s house at 28 Robert Smillie Crescent, Larkhall, Scotland. He lived with his dad Ian and mum Jenny at 23 Victoria Street, Larkhall, shortly followed by the births of his brother John, sister Elaine, sister Lorraine and brother David.
Scott was born and raised in Larkhall, he attended Robert Smillie Memorial Primary school and later Larkhall Academy where he left at the age of 16 to work in a Larkhall butchers, Nat Thomsons, he also worked as a paperboy and milk boy where he delivered newspapers and milk early morning before school to peoples houses for extra pocket money,
Scott decided to immigrate to Toronto Canada at the age of 23 as he has a lot of family there, he found his own apartment and made a happy life for himself. He followed his trade as a butcher in Toronto and at the time of his passing he had many happy years working at Metro.
Scott had a great love of music of all decades and always had music playing in his house all day long when he was home. He loved old time movies and musicals which he was brought up watching and listening to growing up with his family. As anyone who knows Scott, they will know he had a sweet tooth and his family always made sure he had a supply of Cadbury’s and galaxy chocolate when they visited from Scotland. He always put an order in of what he wanted,
Scott was an animal lover and throughout his younger years he brought a cat, dog, rabbits and a hamster home and ended up being allowed to keep them as family pets. Scott’s mum and dad never knew what he was going to get up to next. He loved cats and during his time in Canada he had five fur babies, Callie Coco, and Luke who all passed over the rainbow bridge and Cody and little Callie, they were his whole world and more, and they will miss him terribly, but they will be loved and cared for.
Scott was also very patriotic and very proud to be Scottish.
His family know that anyone who had the honour of knowing Scott could probably write a book about him, and it would be a bestseller, what a boy he was! Scott was truly loved by everyone who crossed his path, and he had the biggest heart. Scott will be sorely missed by many, his brothers and sister want everyone to cherish and treasure the happy memories of their beloved brother Scott who was always smiling and to always remember that hearty infectious laugh of his.
“Our bond was unbreakable, the laughs we shared were unforgettable, and the love we had for each other was immeasurable. Another link of our family chain has broken, nothing seems the same but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.”
