

On the morning of Monday March 3, surrounded by his loved ones, Erik Lithopoulos, born in Athens, Greece, April 4, 1954, peacefully passed away following a stroke. Educated in Electrical Engineering at the University of Patras, with a Masters degree at the University of Toronto, he furthered his studies at Stanford University towards his Phd at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory NASA. He worked at Spar Aerospace, then Honeywell. When Honeywell moved their operations from Canada, Erik and two partners began Applanix Corp. which has become a world leader in Mobile Mapping and Positioning. Erik was a Protestant. He had a deep passion for studying homeopathy. Erik is survived by his sons Jaden Lithopoulos of Stouffville, Byron Naylor of Toronto, Clarence Naylor of San Diego and partner Barbara Naylor of Stouffville, his parents Virginia and Harry Lithopoulos and brother Pavlos Lithopoulos, niece Eva Lithopoulos and sister in law Theophano Kaloyianni of Athens. In lieu of flowers, Erik would deeply appreciate contributions in his name to Doctors Without Borders, CNIB, and AboutFace International. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday March 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora. (Yonge St. and Industrial Parkway) visitation from noon to 2:00 p.m.
