Passed away at Southlake Village with David holding her hand after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. Gloria graduated from a Home Economics College in Cardiff in the U.K. and followed her dream to teach both in the U.K. and Toronto. She was an excellent dedicated teacher who touched the lives of many children. Vibrant with a joie de vivre, Gloria was a superb cook and hostess, also an enthusiastic golfer. She was diagnosed with M.S. in 1976 but continued to live her life, energetic and full, until the M.S. progressed to the point where she could no longer do the things she loved. Not once did she complain. She endured her final years with courage and dignity. Gloria is survived by her husband and best friend David, and in the U.K. by her sister Juliet, her brother-in-law David and her niece Justine. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Edith and her parents-in-law Frank and Peg. A special thank you to the many “home care girls” who provided such exceptional care that Gloria was able to stay in her home years longer than expected; and also to all the staff on 2-west at Southlake Village for their care and compassion the last two years. A service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held at 11am Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Trinity Anglican Church in Aurora followed by a reception. A service of committal and cremation has taken place. Later Gloria’s ashes will return to South Wales for interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gloria’s name may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
