Sorry to be so late in adding a memory And I discovered when Ian's sister showed up to play at my bridge club in Scottsdale the Ross family were frequent visitors at my family's farm in the 50s and my family in turn visited them in Lachine. We lost touch when they moved but I have fond memories. With Ian's passing Mary and I are the only ones left of the 2 families. May Ian rest in peace with his brother Don and my brother Rev Duncan.

When we first docked our 29’ Bayfield sailboat next to Maggie & Ian’s ship, the Coralita, we were in awe.  Quite a daunting vessel!  However, soon after, we discovered its captain was a jovial man with a super sized sense of humour.    Ian was able to see the funny side when a wicked gust of wind nearly sent us crashing into the Coralita as we were returning from a sail, presenting us with the only casualty, his broomstick.  We still chuckle over this memory.

My earliest memory of Uncle Ian was at a wedding where he was pointing out Venus and various constellations in the sky. I didn't see him often or know him well, but I'll miss him all the same.

I'm saddened to hear of Ian's passing we were friends since we were 12 years old we did a lot of things together including lots of trouble, we tended to be risk-takers. The world is a duller place with his passing.   I remember smuggling a 22 cal revolver, into Canada on the back of Ian's Motorcycle and a few other adventures best not mentioned.  Best wishes to you and family.

While Ian’s passing was not unexpected, this loss of my brother is very sad. I have so many memories of our childhood growing up in Lachine, QC, of a few years when we both lived in Barbados, and of many visits over the years.

My husband Eric and I made plans a few months ago to travel from Nova Scotia where we live to visit Ian and his wife Maggie  on Sept 9 and 10.  Our hope was to spend some quality time with Ian at their summer place in Lindsay and share a glass of wine. While Ian cannot be with us, we will join Maggie as planned, and raise a glass of wine in his memory. He would like that.

My sincere sympathies go to Maggie, their daughter, Cindi, their 3 grandchildren (Trevour, Kenny and Allison) and their three great grandchildren on their loss. 

May Ian now rest in peace and live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him.
