Hello, I am Katharina from Austria and Karli was my uncle. He was my mother's brother. My mother and me are trying since weeks to reach Hilde and Karli, but there was no answer at the phone.
Now I am really shocked because I found the message, that he died in the Internet.

Karl was one of the kindest men I had the pleasure of knowing for 47 years of my life.  I was the luckiest kid to have neighbours as wonderful as him and Hilde.  I have many fond memories of Karl.  My favourites are that he could fix anything, that we would go to their house every Christmas to watch the Eaton's Santa Claus parade because they had a colour television and we didn't, watching him light the candles on their real Christmas tree after a delicious schnitzel supper each Christmas season, being allowed to take the goodies from the Christmas tree home with us at the end of the night, having pictures taken with him and Hilde on my wedding day (my favourite which was chosen as part of my wedding album), Karl videotaping my wedding and presenting me with the best wedding present I could have received - the finished version, which I can watch whenever I want, and, lastly, going to visit him and Hilde after from time to time after moving off the street and listening to his stories and words of wisdom.  Words cannot express how very much I will miss him.  My life is better for having had the pleasure of knowing him.  Rest easy, Karl.  I love you.

I wish I had known Karl had passed.  He was the closest thing I had to a Grandfather growing up.  When I got sick at school and my mum was working Karl would pick me up and take me to their house.  He was the "wedding driver" for our family too.  I have a lot of good memories of him in my life.  

Hilde, if we had known we would have been with you at the funeral.  We are so sorry for your loss.  If you need anything we are only phone call away.

Until we meet again Karl xo.  Thank you for all you did for my family.



One of the dearest, sweetest, kindest, most generous men (who could fix anything) I have had the honour of knowing for all of my 47 years.  You dear sir, will be missed. xo

Tante Hilde, Steve, John and your families,
Onkel Karl always welcomed us (as all of you did) as part of your fantastic family. We can easily hear his voice, providing advice on many a project, and his quiet laughter when silly comments came from one of the three musketeers (Steve, Peter, Bill) ...way back when.
Whenever we see needlepoint it is synonymous with our own images and stories of Onkel Karl and for that we will be forever greatful that you shared your Onkel and husband with us in such loving and intimate ways.
Missed but never forgotten.

Dear Tante Hilde and Family,
I will always remember and cherish the fun times we had at your cottage. Onkel Karl was always ready take anyone for a boat ride  or waterski around the lake.  Mike and I remember him driving us on our wedding day from the church to the reception; and also the fun times the twins had on our visits with both of you.  We will miss him greatly but he will always be in our hearts and memories.  Our deepest sympathy and condolences are with you and the family.
