Born an only child in Leicester, England to Sid and Doll, Madge would grow up to begin her secretarial career at Frears’ Biscuits. The company field hockey team introduced her to her now-late husband, Kim (George) Ford. The two would venture across the ocean in 1957 to begin a new life in Canada. Mike and Christine made their family complete just north of Snowball. Madge travelled to six continents, was a dedicated volunteer for many causes and organisations, an artist (enamelling, painting and carving), animal lover, hiker, skier, camper, canoeist, gardener, baker, loyal friend, devoted and loving wife, mom and grandma/Granny. She leaves behind the legacy of her humour, integrity, matter-of-factness, sense of adventure, thoughtfulness, warmth and true love.
Madge will be tremendously missed by her son Mike (Elise), daughter Christine (Mike), grandsons Alexandre and Mathieu, her legions of nephews, nieces, Godchildren, co-workers from Don Head S.S./Alexander Mackenzie H.S., family and friends across the world, including her friend, Bob Smith.
Those wishing to honour Madge may consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, the O.S.P.C.A., the Bruce Trail Conservancy or a charity of your choosing.
A celebration of life for Madge will be held at the Aurora Legion Banquet Hall, 105 Industrial Parkway North, Aurora L4G 4C4 on Sunday, September 14 for 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm. (Entrance and parking at back of building.)
