It is with great sadness that we regret to inform you that Paul passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, surrounded by family and close friends following a lengthy and complicated illness.
The support of his friends and family, and his unwavering faith gave him strength throughout his ordeal.
Taken from us too soon, Paul will always be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his ability to light up a room with his wit, and his heart of gold. Always one to march to the beat of his own drum and encourage others to come along for the ride, Paul accumulated a trove of true friends throughout his life.
When he wasn't playing hockey or riding his hog in the countryside, Paul was happiest on the water, and enjoyed many idyllic summers on Lake Simcoe as captain of the Mighty Fine. He always had a story (or tall tale) at the ready, and took pride in watching his family grow.
He is survived by his children, Jesse, Travis, and Shannon, his grandson, Maxwell, his sisters Christine and Gwen, and his mother Bette.
A celebration of life will be held this Sunday, September 18 from 1-3 p.m. at DiNardo's Mansion Event Hall at 400 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, Ontario. There is plenty of parking at the venue.
Our family requests that, if you feel so inclined, in lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to: St. Michael's Hospital Foundation in Memory of Paul Mighton (Myositis Care Program).
