Father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle passed away on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at the age of 90. Phil was a Civil Engineer who graduated from the University of Toronto in 1948. As an avid philatelist (stamp collector), it brought him much joy in his final years after losing the love of his life Irene, his wife of 63 years. He loved to read and was always a source of information: he was our encyclopedia and was always there to answer our questions. His knowledge was the main reason he was great at crossword puzzles, especially the very difficult ones. One of his greatest pastimes was watching sports on TV his favorites were golf, baseball and football. Along with the great care his son Bob gave to him during these last several years, his daughter Jane (Mike) and son Paul (Lola) were additional support and strength during this time. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Lisa (Brad), Nathalie, Dean and Andrew and always loved seeing his great-grandchildren Soleil and Kingston whom he never thought he would live to see. Predeceased by his sisters Winnie and Irene (Ernie) and his brother Joe. He will always be with us. A private family funeral will be held after cremation. No flowers please. Arrangements entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora. On-line condolences may be made at www.thompsonfh-aurora.com
