Robert Douglas Bruce Stevenson

Doug passed away peacefully at home, with family, after a very sudden but short battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Stevenson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Deborah, his son Craig (Tammy), daughter Jennel and his five grandchildren, Jaelynn, Braedon, Owen, Abigail and Maxwell, his brother James (Lee) and his sister Jackie (George).

Doug was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario but moved around with his parents and siblings several times before returning to Preston to marry and have a family of his own.

In professional sales all of his life, he was one of the good guys. Starting off at Canada Cup and Cadbury Chocolate in his early years, he also sold irrigation systems in Egypt with his father, gourmet specialty food products across Canada, herbal supplements, and then returned to work after his retirement at the local Stouffville Chevrolet dealership. His honesty, his integrity and his charisma made him memorable to all of his customers over the years.

Doug was an avid golfer. He joined Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in 1997 with his wife Deb, where they enjoyed countless rounds of golf followed by many good times with friends on the patio. He also loved his winters in Florida and spent many years golfing at River Strand Golf & Country Club in Bradenton where he loved hanging out at the Tiki bar after his round. Doug would also sit happily for hours on his back lanai watching the golfers and gators while listening to his favourite “Geezer rock”.

A strong yet gentle and caring man, Doug will be greatly missed by many including his brother in law Steven (Courtenay) his nephews Adam (Lori, Paityn, Talon), Boyd (Amanda, Brantley) and the many other extended members of the Couch, Hearn and Stevenson families.

We will all remember Doug for his wicked and dry sense of humour – something that never failed to make people smile and like him.

Visitation with the family will be at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m. A private family funeral has been arranged for a later date.
