Shawn Jeffery Borland, of Richmond Hill, Ontario, passed away heroically on December 2, 2025, knowing that he was loved. Born in Toronto on August 20, 1974, Shawn became a geography, history and alternative education teacher at Thornlea Secondary School. Shawn was known for his “punny” jokes, and his love for the Leafs and his Tim Horton’s coffee.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Nancy Berndt; his beloved son, Peter; his caring mother, Susan; his cherished sister, Sara; and her loving family, Aaron and Blake. Shawn will be dearly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and staff of AgeCare Aurora.

A memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, located at 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON, L4G 6W8. The service is scheduled for December 16, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a reception at the same location starting at 12:00 pm.
