It is with great sadness we announce that Teresa Sharp passed away peacefully at home of natural causes at the age of 94. Teresa was surrounded by her loving children, Michael, Carol, Diane, and David.
Devoted wife of the late Geoffrey Sharp (1929 -1991) for whom Teresa spent many years caring for him through his illnesses. Teresa was reunited with her husband on what would have been his 94th birthday.
Born at the family farm, Holly Hill, Glengarriff, Co. Cork, Ireland to the late Jack and Annie Hurley (nee Shanahan), Teresa was the last surviving and youngest of their eleven children.
Teresa emigrated to Lincoln, England in 1951 where she met her future husband while travelling on the bus to work, and Geoffrey was with the Royal Air Force. They married on July 30, 1956 at St. Hugh’s Catholic Church, Lincoln.
In 1957, after the birth of their first child, they emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where their two daughters were born. In 1962, the family settled in the small town of Aurora, Ontario, where their fourth child arrived two years later. Their children are forever grateful for the happy childhood they provided.
Teresa was a wonderful homemaker, avid gardener, talented baker, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, word searches and music. She loved road trips and international travel. A visit to the Holy Land was especially meaningful.
Teresa loved meeting people, and enjoyed having a chat and a good cup of tea. She had a gentle and generous spirit, a lively sense of humour, and was kind and warm-hearted.
Teresa was the cherished and proud Nan of Emma (Erick), Geoffrey and Abbey. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren and David’s wife, Stephanie.
