Walter was born on January 4, 1941, in Vienna, Austria, to Franz and Paula Boehm. In 1966, he made the courageous journey to Canada in search of new opportunities. Though he arrived without knowing the language, everything began to change when he met Jane—who not only captured his heart but also helped him learn English and build a meaningful life in a new country. Their love blossomed into a remarkable 55-year marriage, full of laughter, resilience, and deep companionship.
Walter spent 35 dedicated years working at RK Woodworking, where his craftsmanship, quiet strength, and work ethic earned him the admiration and respect of colleagues and friends alike. He was a man of simple joys, finding his greatest happiness at the family cottage, where he spent countless cherished moments surrounded by nature and loved ones. It was there that Walter was most at peace.
Walter’s legacy is one of quiet devotion, love, and integrity. He was a beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. His memory will live on in the stories shared around the table, in the stillness of the lake, and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A visitation for Walter will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Tribute Hall. A reception will be held afterwards in the Heritage Room.
