Abbie Mae “Jo” Russell Bebee Abbie Mae “Jo” Russell Bebee, age 97, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2005. Abbie Mae “Jo” was born in Salado, Texas, on March 8, 1908 to Bird A. and Mabel Smith Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edwin Leon Bebee. She is survived by her children; Betty Jo Prather, Doyle Edwin Bebee, Thomas Wayne Bebee, Lisa Kay Williams; nine grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ora Russell Webb and Winnie Russell Pigott; in addition to a host of nieces and nephews. She attended two years at Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, Texas; one year at Southwest Texas State Teachers College (Texas State University, San Marcos) where she received her Teachers Certificate. She was a schoolteacher and homemaker. Jo was a formidable scrabble player and loved wild flowers. She grew up in Williamson County. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Capital Area Division, P. O. Box 16169, Austin, Texas 78761. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 7, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 8, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel with Jim Colley of the former Southside Church of Christ and Milton “Doc” Pogue officiating.
