

Agnes Aitken, 86, went home to heaven April 18, 2023 in Jacksonville, TX. Born to Gerhart and Helen Meissner in Clovis, New Mexico on August 15, 1936. She grew up on a farm in Lariat – a small town in West Texas with her four siblings. Agnes graduated from Farwell High School and attended Texas Tech University. She married Jim Aitken, her beloved husband, in October of 1985, who preceded her in death.
Agnes worked many years at Frost Insurance as an administrative assistant in downtown Austin. She was a beautiful person inside and out and a born caretaker to her family and many friends. Agnes was a willing volunteer and active and devoted member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Agnes Loved to cook and everyone loved her cooking, especially her Thanksgiving dressing and famous fruitcake cookies. Agnes was a beloved grandmother to her five grandchildren. Always ready for a game of Wahoo, Uno, Dominoes, and basketball. After retirement, she pursued her goal of travel, which included Europe, Costa Rica, Australia and Alaska.
Preceding her in death were bother Rueben, brother Calvin, and sister Mildred. Survivors include her sister Janice Shroeder (Bruce) from Missouri, daughter Brenda Hengartner (Keith), son Michael Gloyna (Robin), grandson Kyle Heingartner (Macie), grandson Tyler Heingartner (Kasey) grandson Joshua Heingartner, grandson Zachary Gloyna and granddaughter Madison Gloyna. Also great grandsons Kellen Heingartner and Bradley Gloyna.
A visitation for Agnes will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
