

Allene Schnaiter, lovingly known as MeMaw, passed away on July 19, 2023, at the age of 90 in Austin, Texas. She was born on March 4, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Karl Wade White and Genevieve Davis White. Allene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Petro Schnaiter.
Allene was a dedicated military wife, keeping the home fires burning for 22 years. She supported her husband’s career with unwavering love and commitment.
Allene had a vibrant personality and a sense of adventure. She loved traveling with her husband and later with her children and grandchildren. Her wild Halloween parties, chili cook-offs, and Indy 500 race parties were legendary. Family holidays were transformed into talent shows, sing-alongs, and various reenactments of the birth of Jesus, complete with full costumes and scenery.
Education was important to Allene, and she graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1954. She was a dedicated life long member of the Theta Chapter of Delta Gamma.
Allene had a creative side and enjoyed various hobbies. She was an accomplished seamstress, painter, knitter, quilter, gardener, jewelry maker, and decorator. She spent many years passionately researching the genealogy of the Schnaiter and White families and proved two ancestors as Revolutionary War soldiers. Allene was an active member of the Daniel Coleman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Allene was a founding member of Hope Presbyterian Church and later attended All Saints Presbyterian Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith.
Allene is survived by her children and their spouses, son Tom Schnaiter and Linda, daughter Janet Mery and Guy, son Bob Schnaiter and Gail, grandchildren Derrick Schnaiter and Rachel, Kacee Trupiano and Matthew, Nathan Mery and Cheryl, Mitchell Mery and Lauren, Ryan Mery and Cindy, Amanda Mery, and great-grandchildren Evan Schnaiter, Arden Schnaiter, Giovanni Trupiano, Ava Trupiano, Owen Mery, Riley Mery, Maggie Mery, Duke Mery, Drake Mery, Mia Mery, and Caleb Mery. She is also survived by her niece Elizabeth Stiles and her daughters Mary and Sarah, and nephew Andrew Blake and Rita.
A memorial service to celebrate Allene’s life will be held at All Saints Presbyterian Church, located at 7808 Rialto Blvd., Austin, Texas 78735, on Wednesday August 2, 2023, at 10:00 am.

MeMaw will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her faith, and her passion for life. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
