Alma Gladys Benson Castle

Alma Gladys Benson Castle of Florence, Texas, born December 18, 1928 in Fouke, Arkansas, was welcomed to Her Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 31, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Kathleen Benson, four brothers & two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wilburn T. Castle of Florence; daughters, Carolyn Davis of Florence, Alma Bonita Barr & husband, Bill of Hutto, Gale Webb & husband, Billy of Austin; son, Tommy Castle, Jr. & wife, Donna of Tomball; sister, Jean Proctor of Texarkana; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews. As a 46 year member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, Gladys was active in the Alathean Sunday School Class. She was a loving wife, mother & grandmother who devoted her life to raising her children & grandchildren. She was a kind and gentle person who was always ready to lend a helping hand to her family & many friends. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 3, 2006, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Young Funeral Chapel in Florence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Florence with Pastors Troy Allen & Roy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Florence Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bill Barr, II, Greg Castle, Brent Castle, Charles Schulz, Ivan Vires, Eli Villasana, and Chris Barnes. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Florence, and Claudie Walston, Lee Walston & Jerry Howell.
