Alta Faye Nowlin was born in Florence, Texas, March 9, 1932 and passed away in Austin,Texas, October 7, 2021. She was the youngest of 6 children born to Thomas and Hattie Mae Nowlin.
Alta worked for many years as an estimator in the printing industry for Steck Warlick which later became Hart Graphics where she ultimately retired. She enjoyed her work and the company of her co-workers.
Alta loved being surrounded by family. The family is left with many fond memories of Christmas gatherings, Easter egg hunts, birthdays and Thanksgiving dinners. Summers for the great-nieces and nephews brought trips to Camp Double Creek. And she and her sister Doris were ready babysitters when the kids were little and enjoyed spoiling them.
She loved playing volleyball and fast-pitch softball and enjoyed watching sports on TV.
Alta’s heart was big. She enjoyed being a caretaker for others. That heart of love will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings and their spouses; Hattie Mae (Charles) Vorbeck, James (Ardath) Nowlin, Thomas (Dorothy) Nowlin, Doris Nowlin, and Maizie (Marvin) Toungate and niece Darlene Vorbeck.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew whom she loved as if they were her own daughters and son; Linda Burnett of Livingston, Helen (Jeff) Pike of Austin, Marvin (Sandi) Toungate; great-great nephew, Chris Ricks of Austin; great-nieces and great-nephews who she doted on as if they were her grandchildren; Shelia (Cody) Harrison of Cold Spring, Charlene (Chad) Jones of The Woodlands, Roberta (Clif) Haley of Killeen, Kara Pike of Austin, Catherine Renee Pike of San Diego, Kelsey Toungate of Austin; great-great-nephews, Shane Pike of Austin, Miguel Corpus, Josh Corpus, and Jorgie Corpus all of Reedville, Levi Haley of Killeen; great-great-nieces, Bella Mae and Bree Sadler of The Woodlands along with a host of friends.
