

Andrew Pickett Mobley Andrew Pickett Mobley of Austin was born on July 27, 1984 and passed away on August 9, 2003. He graduated from Austin High in 2002, and at the time of his death he had completed his freshman year and summer courses at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Andrew had an amazing encyclopedic mind and a wry, penetrating view of the world. He enjoyed a diverse range of interests in the fine arts, history and science, and cared deeply about social issues. Andrew had great compassion for all. He challenged everyone including himself to examine conventional wisdom regarding social and environmental issues. Andrew was a voracious reader, always searching for insight and knowledge to understand our world and his place in making it better. A gifted self-taught guitarist, Andrew had a passion for music and his unique hometown of Austin. He was a wonderful actor who performed major parts in a number of plays with Austin High's Red Dragon Players. Offstage, he was a wickedly funny mimic. His incomparable sense of humor illuminated the lives of his family and friends of all ages, making us laugh and think at the same time. His years with us were precious, and we will miss him greatly. He is survived by his father, Steve Mobley, his mother, Holly P. Mobley-Scofield, and her husband John M. Scofield; his sister, Lisa V. Mobley; step-sister, Sydney M. Scofield and stepbrother, Evan L. Scofield; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Mobley of Austin, and Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Pickett of Lindale; uncle and aunt, Jim and Sue Mobley; aunt, Linda Mobley; cousins, Melissa and Allison Mobley; aunt and uncle, Melissa and Pat Kelly; cousins Logan and Reid Kelly; numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins and many very dear and cherished friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday August 11, 2003 at Weed-Corley Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 12th at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3208 Exposition Blvd, officiated by pastor Bill Clark. A graveside service will follow.
