

Andrew Venson Jr. , also known by most as Vince or Junior, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024 at age 80 in Austin, Texas. He was born on June 27, 1944 to Andrew Venson Sr. And Mary Alice Turner in Birmingham, Alabama. Andrew made Austin his home in 1982, moving here with his wife, Diane L. Brinkman and was a proud Austin resident for the past 42 years.
Andrew was a lifelong musician, singing doo-wop with friends on street corners when he was younger in Troy, New York and later joining Miss Maggie’s Children. He left New York and made his way to Columbus, Ohio, working with Arthur Conley and Peaches and Herb before forming the Seeds of Fulfillment. When he moved to Austin he formed the five piece jazz group Freefall and then went on to join the rhythm and blues band Blue Mist, before finally forming Venson and Friends, who played their last gig together on December 20, 2024.
Vince leaves behind a strong legacy and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane; his sons, Michael Graham, Andrew Venson lll., Andre’ Venson, Michael Venson, William Venson, Spencer Venson and Daniel Venson; his daughters, Jessica Venson, Christina Venson and Jacquelyn Venson; his grandchildren, Andrew Estefan Venson lV., Andrea Venson, Arianna Venson, Andre’ Venson Jr., Danae Venson, Daisha Venson, Evan Cortez, Sadie Cortez, Malachi Venson, Chloe Cortez, Cattleya Venson, Michal Venson, Dani Venson, Ashten Venson, William Venson, Michaella Venson, Andrew David Venson and Mykah Venson; and his great grandchildren, Lorenzo Douglin, Royce Douglin and Naomi Douglin.
A visitation will be held at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm on Sunday 1/5/25 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78752. Please do not park in the Texas DPS Station parking lot or cars will be towed.
