Anita "Annie" Caballero Castillo

Anita "Annie" Caballero Castillo, born on July 26, 1926, lost her short but courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2013. Annie was born and raised in Austin, Texas and graduated from Austin High School. Annie worked for the City of Austin for close to 40 years and started a second career at the Travis County Appraisal District from which she retired after 12 years.

She was one of twelve children born to the late Gabino and Manuela Caballero. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 11 brothers and sisters, and her beloved son, Joe Gonzales. She is survived by her daughter, Carmen Nenadal and son Abel Gonzales and wife Susanna, her grandchildren, Christopher Nenadal, Alicia Gonzales-Henderson, and April Gonzales, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Annie touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and gave a start to countless. She maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Annie was full of life and nothing made her feel better than her Las Vegas and Coushatta gambling trips with her friends. We know she is celebrating with loved ones in heaven and will be truly missed by all of her family and friends here on earth.

Visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 3125 N. Lamar on Monday, June10th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and the memorial service on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Assumption Cemetery.
