Anita Collins Lowe, 53 died April 11, 2011. Anyone who knew her will tell you that Anita was a sweet, loving, vivacious friend, a wonderful wife and mother and a dedicated teacher. Anita has touched many lives and was the kind of woman who always saw the good in everyone. Her hobbies included helping people and gardening and she was an avid gamer. She especially loved to play word games and do crossword puzzles. She didn't like to talk about it, but Anita was also a really fierce cancer survivor. Her story goes back at least to 1982 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. She beat that and many other health issues over the years, and each time she fought and kept fighting and never gave up, and never gave in, because that's the way she was. Thanks to everyone out there whose care, support, prayers and love mean so much and do make a difference. She is survived by her beloved husband, Andrew; daughters, Monica and Elizabeth; mother, Lois C. Horn; brother, Rick Collins; and sister, Cathy Collins. She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family, especially Constance Lowe, William and Pamela Lowe, James and Ann Lowe, John Lowe, and her many nephews, nieces, and other in-laws. She will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd. Austin, Thursday, April 14, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 RR 620 N, Austin, Friday April 15 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CASA (http://www.casatravis.org/) of Travis County.
