Anita lived a full and vibrant life. She loved traveling, sailing, and oil painting, passions that brought her joy and connection throughout the years. She was deeply committed to her community, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Homeless Breakfast of Austin, and serving as President of the Garden Club.
Her faith was central to her life. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, was a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rockdale, and a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, where she actively participated in DORCAS, sang in the choir, served as a Confirmation Advisor to the youth, and was part of the Stephen Ministry.
Anita also had a successful career as a certified beauty consultant for Elizabeth Arden and Dior, and later at Northwest Hills Pharmacy & Florist in Austin. At Northwest Hills, she became especially well known and loved by many long-time, loyal customers who deeply appreciated not only her exceptional knowledge of cosmetics and beauty care, but also her warm and engaging personality. For many years, she extended that expertise to the wider community through her popular Austin American-Statesman column, “Beauty Hints by Anita.”
Known for her kind heart, beautiful smile, and loving soul, Anita touched the lives of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Von Hippel-Lindau Research Foundation at www.VHL.org in memory of Anita Pirovitz.
