Anita was born September 25, 1929 in Dimmitt, Texas to Carlos and Annie Reynolds. She graduated from high school in Lubbock, Texas and received a degree in home economics from Texas Tech University. Anita married her lifelong sweetheart, Dalton Hamilton, and together they had two daughters, Cheryl and Marianna.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dalton, mother Annie Crawford Reynolds McCoy, father Carlos Evander Reynolds and step-father Odie J. McCoy. She is now also reunited in heaven with her twin sister Juanita Cranford and grandson Jason Cooper.
Surviving Anita are sisters Nell Beavers and Natalie Harrison Agre, daughters Cheryl and husband Terry Cooper, Marianna and husband Steven Sulser. Grandchildren include Kelly Huck, Cory and wife Valerie Huck, Seth Sulser, and Sarah and husband J Johnson. Great-grandchildren include Faith, Dalton and Kayti Huck along with Stormy and Summer Johnson.
Anita gave selflessly to her family, friends and her church and supported her husband's engineering career in auxiliary organizations. She was active in PTA, United Methodist Women and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers Auxiliary. Church was very important to her, and at Asbury United Methodist Church and later St. John's United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir, was key in her Sunday School participation, ladies circle groups, assisting with after school programs, taking food and communion to shut-ins and in any other way she was able to make a contribution. She cherished her Walk to Emmaus.
She was the volunteer room mother, driver to enumerable after school activities and could sew a new dress overnight, make curtains for the windows, or quilt special bedspreads and pillow shams for her loved ones. Though not an athlete, she would toss the ball to her grandkids for practice or for play or be in the stands cheering them on. If she saw a need – she filled a need. She was well known as a gracious host or sought-after guest to facilitate a party or get-togethers of any kind. Anita could achieve all of the above with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. She embraced her own family and then opened her arms to their friends or others in need. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the special care associates that helped take care of our beloved Anita and also all of the incredible people with Hospice Austin that have been there for us all.
