

ANN HAGOOD LEDBETTER February 9, 1922 October 12, 2003 Ann Hagood Ledbetter was born February 9, 1922, in Ballinger, Texas, the youngest daughter of Judge Aubrey Knight Doss Sr. and Emily Jane Yeary. The family soon moved to Abilene, Texas, where she attended public school and McMurry College. She met Richard George Hagood of Durant, Oklahoma while he was stationed in Abilene for training at Camp Barkley, during the outbreak of WWII. They married prior to his deployment overseas. After the war, they settled in Houston, Texas and had two children, Jane Courtney Hagood and Richard Lance Hagood. They moved to Austin, Texas in 1961, built a home, and became active members of First Southern Presbyterian Church (now Central Presbyterian Church). She was a loving and sweet Mother who frequently took her youngsters on spur of the moment adventures to the library or visits to pristine Hill Country swimming holes. In 1966 she began managing the G. Harvey Gallery, learning the business of locating and presenting fine Southwestern Art. She later purchased and expanded the Gallery, creating the original Gallery at Shoal Creek. Many significant young Artists received assistance and encouragement from her in their early careers. In 1992 she remarried Professor Joe O. Ledbetter. They had a wonderful time remodeling their home and traveling the world together. Ann Ledbetter is survived by daughter Jane Hagood of Bacliff, Texas, son Lance Hagood of Bee Cave, Texas, grandchildren, Leslie Cecile and Eric Anthony Hagood of Austin, Texas, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 8th and Brazos, Austin, Texas at 2pm Sunday, October 19th, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
