Our hearts are heavy with sadness at the passing of our beloved Anne Beckham Garcia. She courageously battled stage IV lung cancer this past year and died peacefully on July 6, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.
Anne was born on June 16, 1975 daughter of Patrick and Margene Beckham and lived her short life in Austin, Texas. A devoted wife and mother, she leaves behind her husband, Gustavo "Gus" Garcia, her children Madalyn Ann Montgomery (23) and Jayden Daniel Garcia (2). Survivors also include her parents, two brothers Evan and Josh, nephew William, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and an extensive group of devoted friends. Preceeding her in death are her grandparents, Uncle Daniel Thornton, Aunt Vicki Thornton and cousin Sara Beckham Foxworth.
She worked most recently at Asuragen as a customer service representative where she exhibited her outstanding interpersonal skills. Prior to that, her engaging personality shown through in her role as branch manager at Eagle Bank. It was during this time that she met Gus, her future husband, and they married on October 16, 2004. It was he who lovingly shepherded her through the trials she faced in her battle with cancer.
As her love was reflected in her husband's devotion, it also shone brightly through her beautiful children. While Anne's time with her sweet Jayden has been tragically short, she was most grateful for the opportunity to bring this precious child into the world. She is especially proud of Madalyn who has grown to become a beautiful, young woman with a strong sense of independence sharing her mother's ability to foster lasting friendships.
Anne cherished her large circle of friends. They referred to her as the "glue" who brought them together to celebrate birthdays, holidays, vacations, the arrival of their children and fun celebrations in between. One of their favorite vacations together was the coast trip held every year in June. Her friends will remember her contagious laugh and her strong sense of loyalty. She will be forever missed.
Her family is grateful to Dr. Jason Melear, Dr. Ronald Williams and Katharine Lord, P. A. at Texas Oncology, nurses Sara Templeton and Paula Pratte at Hospice Austin, and her cancer support group for their professional, compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8th from 5 – 8 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar Blvd. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Dr.
