As a girl she studied piano and commuted to The Eastman School of Music for lessons until she was in high school. She was the accompanist for the Chorus at the Caledonia-Mumford Central School during her years in High School. While attending Alfred University she became more involved as a singer taking lessons from her mentor William Fielder, the Director of Music. Following her marriage she pursued singing by joining the choir of each church she attended and served as the soprano soloist at two of them. She also enjoyed singing with the Rochester Oratorio Society. It was at Alfred where she met her husband, Allan Hitchcock. They were married in 1951 and lived in Rochester where they started their family. The family followed Allan and his job moves eventually to Montclair, NJ where they lived for 27 years as the children were going through school and college. Anne returned to school herself to refresh her secretarial skills that led to a job as a legal secretary. Following her husband's retirement the couple moved to Lakeway TX and purchased a motorhome with which they had many happy trips throughout the USA over a 5-year period. Anne recorded the trips in her diary and was in the process of writing a book about those glorious days that she loved.
