Arnold Tucker, Jr, age 65, of Austin, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, just one week short of his 66th birthday. Arnold was born on September 25, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas to Dr. Arnold Tucker, Sr and Freda May Tucker. His family moved to Austin, where he grew up. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1978, Arnold attended Austin Community College earning an Associate degree in Criminal Justice. He continued his studies at Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University). He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. While in college Arnold worked for the Austin Independent School District as a bus driver. When he graduated from Southwest State University, he started his police career with the Manor Police Department then moved to Round Rock Police Department (RRPD), all the while being in the Army Reserves at Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas. He then enlisted in the United States Army. His last assignment with the Army was at Fort Dixon. After leaving the Army, Arnold returned to work at the Round Rock Police Department. Arnold worked for Capital Metro for a few years. His final job and probably his greatest happiness in his career was as a bus driver at Concordia High School, a Christian College Prep school. Arnold loved being a positive influence on the students.
Arnold will be missed by many, from his longtime friends to new friends. These friends span from LC Anderson, his military service in the Army, as a police officer with both Manor and Round Rock Police Departments as well as officers that he met along the way from Austin Police Department, and as a driver for Concordia High School in Pflugerville, Texas and any stray that he picked up along the way. These strays were not only the four-legged kind which could be a cat, dog or even donkeys, but he helped many individuals along his path in life and never expected anything in return.
Proceeding Arnold in death was his life partner, Jim May and his mother Freda May Tucker. He is survived by his father Dr. Arnold Tucker, Sr and wife Kathleen, sister Angela Tucker (Richard), brother Allan Tucker (Joan), nieces Rebecca Carpentier (Craig), and Lilah Tucker and nephews Jeffery Tucker (Sam), William Tucker (Grecia) and great nephews Carter & Cooper Carpentier, Kathleen’s daughters – Laura Hasti (Chip), Susye Bowles (Mike), and Denise Hance (Bryon).
Arnold never had children of his own, but called Jamie Puckett, his son. Arnold met Jamie when he was in foster care and helped guide Jamie through those difficult years. When Jamie's daughter, Anna, was born Arnold took on the roll with immense pleasure and honor as her PawPaw.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Arnold on October 7, 2025, at Concordia High School, 1201 S Heatherwilde Blvd., Pflugerville, TX at 2:00 PM.
