I was extremely saddened to hear that Barb had passed away.  Barbara was my savior as a young teenager. She loved my sister Laura and I with the depths of her soul. I was in 9th grade when I came to live with Barbara and my sister. She, her mom(Nana), and her dad(Papa), along with my sister took me in. They took a drop out and for sure on the wrong path teen and turned her around. She loved me, cared for me, fed me, clothed me, she and Laura, were stern but they were supportive as well. I would become baptized in the Catholic faith. I would go on to graduate high school, be the first college graduate in our family, become a nurse and currently a Nurse Practitioner. The love and guidance that Barb gave me is immeasurable and I will miss her deeply. I’m sorry that we lost touch but to her family now, I feel your deep loss. 
I have no doubt that I will see you Barb, Nana, Papa, and my mother again. I love you!

My sincere condolences to all of you for the passing of Barbara. I worked with  her off and on for several years when I was a Sergeant with the Sheriff's Office.  She always shared her coffee with me,  and we spent many hours talking about a myriad of subjects.  She was a compassionate listener and offered sage advice when I needed it---plus, she was funny as hell!  She could always get me laughing when we BOTH needed a laugh!  She left her mark on many of us with the TCSO.  I will truly miss her.  God Bless her, and God Bless all of you.  Peace be with you all...   

Barb will be sorely missed by so many unnamed souls! 
Although our family moved to Lago Vista, just down the street from the Kellys, I didn't meet or get to know Barb until later. As I visited in the mornings having coffee with her mom, Barb would always faithfully call to check on her. Together we would enjoy coffee and phone conversation. My favorite memory of Barb was when we had friends visiting for Memorial Weekend. We were throwing frisbees at the lake, and our friend stepped on a broken bottle. We got him home and,with local clinics closed, we called Barb,who was visiting her mom. She came right down, cleaned our friend's wound, and did a "Barb only" awesome patch job using butterfly bandages. She laughed while working on him, and directed us to get him some good, strong alcohol. Ha! She was like an angel with tough grit, straight from Heaven! And now she's at peace and back with her mom and dad, having heavenly coffee together. May God bless all the Kelly family, Annie and family, and all those who blessed Barb as she prepared for meeting Jesus. 

Nurse Kelly was a kind, loving, funny and a hard worker. She will be missed and will always be loved.

Being an officer and working with Nurse Kelly was a pleasure.   It didn’t matter if it was routine duties or emergency situation Barbara was on on it and performed her duties calmly and with upmost proficiency. RIP Nurse Kelly

I worked with Barb at TCSO.  As a shift Sergeant, it was vital to work closely with Medical staff, no matter the assignment.  We were very fortunate to have Barb as one of our Jail Nurses.  She was compassionate and skilled when it came to dealing with the severe psychiatric cases.  She was also very caring and helped Officers and staff if they needed it.  She was funny, Witty and a great conversationalist! RIP

Barb & I worked the "B" shift together.  Barb was a great nurse and such a good teacher.  She lead me through some crazy times.  I will miss her extraordinary humor and shenanigans.  If you needed a person to talk to Barb was the one.  Rest in peace and "Hi" to Mom.


I met Barbara when I worked for Heaton Bennett Insurance in Austin. She was a client of mine. She has a heart of gold. She would check up on me and we would have lunch together. We learned that she worked with my husband at the jail before she retired. She was a great Nurse at the jail and he thought very fondly of her. She cared for all of the officers she worked along side with. 
Barbara is now hugging her mom who she loved dearly and her sweet pup.
