

A tiny lady, with a big heart, Bea was born on August 9, 1913, in Giddings, Texas, to Herman Ernst and Ida (Troll) Hielscher. She left home as soon as she graduated high school to attend Scott & White School of Nursing in Temple, Texas, where she became a Registered Nurse. There she also met and married the love of her life, Charlie H. Joyce, Sr. with whom she shared 67 wonderful years. Bea was a stay-at-home mom who lovingly cared for her family and home as well as many neighbors and friends. She served the community in numerous ways through her church, PTA, Austin Parks and Recreation, and the Little League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two siblings, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include brother, Herman E. Hielscher, Jr. of Oxnard, CA; son, Chuck Joyce and wife, Peg, of Lindenhurst, NY; daughter, Alice Moore and husband, Duane, of Austin; grandchildren, Jeff Joyce and wife, Linda, Windsor Marchesi and husband, Ben, Chelsea Joyce, Cheryl Metcalf and husband, Mark, and Christy Koenig and husband, Jay; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, Wednesday, the 1st of June 2011, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar.
Funeral Services will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon, Thursday, the 2nd of June 2011, at the Cook- Walden Funeral Home, North Lamar, with the Reverend Jarred Parnell officiating. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Emeritus at North Austin and the staff of Buckner Hospice for their loving care of “Miss Bea”.
