Benjamin Gamboa Gonzales, Sr., aka, Casper age 83, passed away peacefully in his home on April 27, 2025, in Buda, Texas. Born on January 15, 1942, in Austin, Texas, Ben lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and craftsmanship.
Ben began his education at Zavala Elementary and continued through Austin High School before earning an Associate's degree from San Jose City College in San Jose, California. His career reflected his strong work ethic and skilled hands. He worked alongside his brother, Gonzalo in the food service department at Lockheed Martin, and later worked at Agnews State Mental Hospital, where he shared many crazy and scary stories with all of his children.
When he moved to Texas he worked with his brother in law, Luis Vasquez Jr. for Mr. Meyer at Parco Builders as a carpenter, building homes and later worked at The Texas State Hospital in Maintenance. He again worked with his brother in law for 16 years at Hart Graphics where he applied his carpentry talents. He concluded his working years at Cabinet Products in Georgetown, Texas, until becoming disabled in 1997.
Throughout his life, Ben was known for his kind heart and quick wit. A natural storyteller with a gift for humor, he brought joy to those around him with laughter and warmth.
Ben had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles and loved driving along the coastline towards Santa Cruz and San Fransisco.
After moving to Texas, he found great joy riding his Harley motorcycle with his beloved wife, Rachel.
Ben enjoyed music and was very artistic and talented with his craftsmanship skills in which he passed down to his children.
He loved playing his Fender electric guitar alongside Sebastian Castillo at multiple churches. He also loved playing his harmonica and later on would have duet harmonica sessions with his granddaughter, Gianna.
Later in life, he cherished quiet moments watching Westerns and reruns of *Little House on the Prairie*, always with a story to share or a joke to tell, and never letting his precious remote go.
Ben’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He grew up attending Templo Bethel Church and later worshipped at Templo Sinai Church. In more recent years, he was a member of Christian Life Austin. Even when health challenges prevented him from attending services in person, Ben remained devoted—watching church online every Wednesday and Sunday and reading his Bible each morning.
Ben shared 48 loving years of marriage with Rachel Gonzales.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Cynthia A. Gonzales Jamison; Benjamin (Chuy) Jr.; Rodney Gonzales (Eron); Eden Benjamin Gonzales III; and Lindsay Rai Torres (Simon). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Nicholas D. Jamison; Joseph D. Jamison; Benjamin Gonzales III; Michelle Gonzales; Jeremy A. Gonzales; Nieko Gonzales (Savannah); Malia Duin (Peter); Brittany Rai Gonzales; Destiney Carissa Gonzales; Isaiah Eden Gonzales; Zeryan Gonzales; Xander Gonzales; and Gianna Raquel Torres. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Rhylan Gonzales, Jax Gonzales, and Marley Gonzales.
Ben is also remembered by his siblings: brother Gonzalo Gonzales and sisters Mary Esther Wray and Pauline Martinez.
He now joins in rest his brother Herman Pete Gonzales, his parents Esther Gamboa Gonzales and Germinal (Herman) Gonzales, as well as his sister Amelia Soto.
The family would like to thank Enhabit Home Health (Angel and Angie) for the care and patience with our dad. We would also like to thank and acknowledge Dr. Raymond, Dr. Williams and the staff at ARC for the care of our dad.
May the memory of Benjamin Gamboa Gonzales Sr. always be remembered by his laughter, love of family, unwavering faith, and his enduring spirit, and bring comfort to all who knew him.
