Bernhard Schuler

Ben was born March 2, 1927, in St. Louis, MO. Graduating from Roosevelt HS in June 1945, he joined the U.S. Navy. At the completion of World War II, he attended and graduated from Washington University (St. Louis) with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Upon graduating, he began a long career in the appliance business, working 25 years for the Maytag Company. After retiring from Maytag, he worked for Roper Co., Parrish and Company, and McNair’s Appliance in Austin.

He also served on several church and community boards and activities including: Ushering, Men’s Club and the Finance Committee at St. Louis Catholic Church (Austin), President of Northwest Little League, Treasurer of the Northwest Pony Colt Baseball, and the President of the Enclave of Canyon Creek HOA.

Ben is survived by his wife of 66 years LaVerne Greifzu, four children: Tony Schuler (Sarah), Janis Livingston (Kirk), David Schuler, John Schuler (Robin), 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Ben will be missed by all.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., ST. Thomas More Catholic Church, North FM 620, Austin, Texas 78726.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either The American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
