The angels took our precious “Bebe” home on November 13th. As much as we will miss her, we are comforted in knowing her suffering is over. We know she was warmly greeted by loved ones who passed on before her.
Bernice Beatrice Holle was born January 4, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Henry and Mollie Mueller. She grew up in Los Angeles but her family returned to their Texas roots in 1939 when they moved to Brenham. Here she met the love of her life, Lonnie Henry Holle. They were married June 1, 1940. From this union came three sons: Gene, Jerry and Mike.
As a teenager, Bernice attended the Los Angeles Institute of Musical Education for several years. She became a proficient pianist and enjoyed her time in front of the piano.
As a young woman, Bernice worked for Scarborough’s Department Store. She enjoyed helping her customers shop for clothing and liked to reminisce about her time working there. This was followed by a 28 year career at the Department of Public Safety. She frequently spoke of how much she enjoyed her job working in the Drivers License Division. Bernice made many lifelong friends during her career at DPS.
Bernice enjoyed life and was a very generous lady. She was an excellent cook. She could bake a coconut cake that was like no other. Bebe especially enjoyed the holidays and without fail always made a giant batch of chex mix to share with family and friends. She had a good sense of humor and a quick wit. Family was very important to Bebe and she was very proud of her sons and her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sundance Memory Care where she has lived for the last 3 ½ years. The caregivers lovingly took care of our sweet Bebe and that gave us peace of mind. We will always be grateful. The family would also like to thank Kindred Hospice for their care of Bebe. Their genuine love for Bebe was especially comforting.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mollie Mueller, her husband Lonnie Holle, her sister Ginger Heald and her daughter- in -law Barbara Holle. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gene Holle and wife Gloria, Jerry Holle and wife Linda, and Mike Holle and wife Paula. Bebe is also survived by her grandchildren: Carol Holle, Alisha Cofer and husband Mike, Jonathan Holle and wife Courtney, Justin Toungate and wife Clare, and Christopher Holle and wife Kyleigh. Additionally, she is survived by her great grandchildren: Samuel Cofer, Jonathan Holle Jr., Zachery Holle, Everett Toungate and Oliver Toungate.
