On January 27, 2021, Bernice Procell (Bill), 92, passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas. He was a beloved husband of Mary Trevino Procell and a father to Billy Procell, Beverly Adamberry, John Procell (spouse Kim) and Paul Procell. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Natalie, Brandon, Paul Neal, Dalton, Bishope, and Alexandria, and he was a great-grandfather to Michael.
Bill was born in Zwolle, Louisiana on August 26, 1928 to John and Lucy Procell. The family attended St. Austin’s Catholic Church.
During one of his military service trips, he met his lovely bride Mary on a ranch in La Rosita in 1954 and they were married on July 23, 1955 in Roma, Texas. If you had to ask him, he was the lucky one when they met and fell in love. Bill and Mary were always together, at church, or going to a restaurant. Their love for each other was rare and timeless. The wedding vows “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, and in sickness and in health, until death do us part” were genuine and sincere. Sixty-five years of marriage is a true testament.
Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years throughout the world and later was stationed in San Antonio. This was their first home, however. He had to relocate to Shreveport and Boulder, Louisiana before finally transferring to Bergstrom Air Force Base. After retirement, Bill loved working with his hands and found employment with Capitol Chevrolet for over 20 years. When he had a chance, you could always find him “gone fishing”.
Bill loved his family and enjoyed having them around him and Mary. He always had a story to tell but he thoroughly cherished spending time with all of them. Bill was the youngest and last of the family from John and Lucy Procell. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jo, Edward, Melvin, Raymond, and sisters Ozella and Emma.
He lived his life the way it should be lived “God first, family second, work.”
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 9:00 A.M. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, located at 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas, 78752. A graveside will follow at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery at 11:00 A.M.
