

She lived in Peru where she married Charles Groat in 1941. They moved to Texas in 2001 to be near their children. After 62 years of marriage, Charlie died in August of 2003.
Betty was a homemaker, worked with her husband with family restaurant, often times roadie and big supporter of Charles’s music band. Betty also loved to play golf with Charles and her girlfriends. She also enjoyed sewing and crochet.
She is predeceased by her parents, Charles her husband, sister and brother and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Pat Darwin in Noblesville, Indiana. Also six children, Neah Marten (Ken) Del Valle, Texas, Tammy Peifer (Don) Tomball, Texas, Debi Abney Austin, Texas, Kirk “Corky” Groat (Lynn) Austin, Texas, Riley “Chip” Groat (Julie) Austin, Texas, Marty Estes (Billy) Fruita, Colorado, twenty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas.
Memorial services will be held on June 13, 2015, 11:00a.m., Redeemer Lutheran Church, Austin, Texas.
