Betty Virginia Nelson

in the New Haven Assisted Living & Memory Care facility in Kyle, TX.

She was born November 20, 1931, in Wellsburg, WV, daughter of the late Ignatious “Ike” J.

Battalio and Margaret Virginia Meneely. She was also preceded in death by her

husband Alton Nelson on January 23, 1999.

Betty attended Wellsburg High School and later worked for various engineering

departments within General Electric at their Schenectady, NY and Pittsburgh, PA

locations. She and her husband Alton later transferred to Venezuela in 1959 for what

was to be a “short time”. Twenty-four years later she transferred back to Austin, TX.

She was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed bowling and outdoor adventures. She

will be remembered for her persistence, always being there, and giving to others.

Betty is survived by sons Kirk (Sheryl) Nelson and David Nelson; grandchildren

Christopher & Doreliz Nelson, Serina & Blake Treadaway, Sean & Sasha Nelson,

and Melinda Nelson; great-grandchildren Bryan Jr., Angel, Chad, Suzi, Peyton,

Rourke, Amariz, Joyce, Eamon, Gideon and Charlie.

Friends will be received Friday, September 3 at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest

Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin,

TX 78749. Pastor Chuck Davis of Bannockburn Church of Austin, TX will officiate

beginning at 2:00 PM. Please join us for fellowship and food after the graveside

service.
