Beverly Ann DeBerry, 83, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2023, in Amarillo, TX with her family by her side. Beverly was born on July 12, 1939, to Elmer “Barney” and Ada June Bruggeman. She spent her childhood years with her 3 sisters as an “army brat” living in Munich, Germany, and returning back home to Austin, TX where she graduated from Travis High School. She married her soulmate Jimmie Lynn DeBerry on October 27, 1972. Beverly lived in Austin until the last year.
Beverly had a knack for drawing and doodling, creating paper doll clothing as a child, and friends recognized her design ability in high school. She learned to play the accordion in Germany, ski on wooden skis and visited her cousins Anel and Dian overseas. She rarely sat during family gatherings in her desire to lovingly serve her family. Family was the most important part of her life. Beverly and her sisters and their spouses always had a fun time together whether for talks with coffee, cards or dominoes, or trips to the lake. They supported each other through the ups and downs of life. Beverly loved watching her grandchildren at Christmas opening gifts, walking a grand-baby around and showing them her pretties, watching and playing with them through the years as they grew. She was an intentional gift-giver. We will remember her for her patience, kindness, and love for family, for grease cakes, banana pudding, her sweet giggle, soft nature, beautiful eyes, and smile.
She was a secretary at MHMR, Austin ISD main office, and later for Sunset Valley Elementary School. She retired after 31 years at Austin ISD. She was hardworking and friendly with her coworkers. She would help a child find their smile in their pocket when they could not find it themselves. Beverly was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jimmie DeBerry, and sister, Robbie Willeford. She is survived by her sisters, Wanda Rollman, Linda Arldt and husband, Bill of Austin. Children, Jimmie DeBerry of Austin, Tommie DeBerry and wife, Tonna of Canyon, Kelley Langford and husband, Michael of Fredericksburg. Grandchildren, Jillian DeBerry and husband Matt Schrader, and their son Calvin Henry Schrader, Jeffrey DeBerry and girlfriend Caragh Givens, Bailey Hartman and husband Blake, Emily and Austin DeBerry, Jaxon and Harrison Langford.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 W Slaughter Ln., Austin, TX. Viewing will be at 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeffrey DeBerry, Matthew Schrader, Blake Hartman, Jaxon Langford, Austin DeBerry and Harrison Langford.
