Bill K. Ellison

Bill K. Ellison, 85, of Austin, Texas, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at South Austin Hospital on Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was born on July 29, 1926 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to B.K. and Rubye Ellison.

Bill grew up in Yazoo City, MS and graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1944. Upon his graduation he joined the Navy Air Corp where he proudly served his country until 1946. After his service in the military, Bill entered college at the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1950. After graduating, Bill began his career as a Petroleum Engineer for Texaco and moved to Nocona, Texas where he met the love of his life, Lydia Hoeldtke. They were married on September 15, 1951 in Bowie, Texas.

Bill retired from Texaco after 30 years of dedicated service and began a second career with Southland Royalty in Midland, Texas until his final retirement in 1986. Bill and Lydia moved to Austin in 2003 to be closer to their children. Bill was a Elder and Deacon for the Presbyterian Church, an avid tennis player and belonged to the Circle C Tennis Group.

Bill was a family man and family always came first. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known him.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lydia Ellison; son, Larry Ellison and his wife Karen, daughters, Joan Jackson and her husband Darren, Amy Ellison Dupont, and Beth Ellison Mendoza and her husband Rick; grandchildren, Katie, Ashley and Justin Ellison, Lindsey, Stacey and Dylan Bunch, and Kathryn and Quinton Mendoza and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 5226 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, Texas 78749.
