Billie Jo Lawler was a devoted mother, wife, sister and friend too many!!! She always cared for others and was a woman of a strong Christian faith. Billie taught Sunday school and worked as the Church Secretary for South Austin Baptist Church.
Billie went to work for Austin News Agency where she met W.E. Lawler and they married in 1955. They had three children, Richard, Carol and Jane. Billie devoted the majority of her life to her children and her children have always remarked on how they have the fondest memories of their childhood. Billie lost W.E. in 1994 and her daughter Carol in 2006. She was also very close to her sisters, Sylvia, Betty, Patsy and Linda, all of Austin, Texas. Patsy was her rock and her touchstone in life.
She held her other sisters very close and dear to her heart. Billie loved her four grandchildren dearly, and fretted and worried over them forever and a day, Lil' Jesse, Travis, Megan and Edward. They loved their Momo very much and couldn’t ever seem to get enough of their Momo!!
Billie is survived by her children Richard and Janie; her grandchildren, Lil' Jesse, Travis, Megan and Edward; her sisters, Betty and Linda; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law.
Her last three days on this earth were at the Austin Hospice Christopher House, and we would like to extend our warmest appreciation and thanks to the staff there who made our mothers last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible, and how they all reached out to our family in many ways by making us all feel at home and as stress free as possible. Thanks to Bruce, Claire, and all the many others there who were wonderful to us and our mother.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Billie to Hospice Austin's Christopher House, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Ste 100, Austin Texas 78759.
