

Billy graduated from Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas, and Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He was a minister for 42 years and was known as a caring pastor. He was the first pastor of Anderson Mill Baptist Church and served there for almost 18 years. Under his leadership the church grew to a membership of over 1,000. The church first met in a home and improved to a church facility of over 67,000 square feet with an up-to-date Family Life Center which included areas for basketball, bowling, racquetball, and various other activities.
Billy also pastored First Baptist Church, Rotan, Texas where there was an almost complete new church facility erected. He also was the pastor of South First in Austin; Wyldwood Baptist near Bastrop; First Baptist in Mt. Pleasant; Reliance Baptist near Bryan; and Oaklawn Baptist near Grovetown. In each of these churches there was a substantial growth in attendance and a significant building program. Billy had also served on the Executive Board of the Texas Baptist Convention.
Billy was commissioned a chaplain in the Texas Army National Guard where he served for over 24 years. At his retirement on October 4, 1992, he was awarded one of the highest medals for the Texas Army National Guard, the Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal for “Exceptionally outstanding achievement in the performance of his duties to his State and Nation”.
Billy is survived by his wife, Sammie; daughter, Suzanne Johns and husband, Paul, of Duncanville; son, Tim Hudnall of Katy; grandchildren, James and Hannah Parham and Tanner Hudnall. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky James.
The family will receive friends at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Anderson Mill Baptist Church, 10633 Lake Creek Pkwy, Monday, August 11, 2014 at 6:00p.m. A second service will be held at First Baptist Church, Rotan, Texas, at 4:00p.m. on August 12, 2014. Graveside services will follow at Snyder Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Doctors David Morris, W.A. Robinson, James Goolsby, Frank Robinson, and all the other helpful medical personnel for their special care throughout these many years of service.
