Billy Charles Ribar A bright light has gone out in our lives. The passing of Billy Charles Ribar (age 47), a man known for his kind heart, big smile and sound advice, fills our hearts with unspeakable sadness. He had a heart for everyone and like a modern day John Wayne was always trying to do the right thing by everyone. He lost his year and a half battle with bladder cancer Friday, July 11, 2008, but not without a strong fight. He dearly loved his children and often told them he was not afraid of dying, just sad to lose time with them. The thought of him in heaven singing in Jesus' choir with red-headed Grandma Georgia brings joy to our hearts. Bill lived in Austin all his life, graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School, and graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1984. He had a strong team of Christian believers from many different churches praying for his healing and many prayer requests were miraculously answered along the way. He outlived all the medical statistics with the help of his doctors: radiation oncologist Dr. Shannon Cox, medical oncologist Dr. Brian Shimkus, radiation oncologist Dr. Douglas Riviera, urologist Dr. John Horan, and urologist Dr. Seth Lerner in Houston. He leaves behind his son Alex; his daughters Taylor, Sarah, Magan and Clesha; Clesha's husband Joshua Ward, their children Georgia, Garrett, Colby, and Brooks; his brother Fred Ribar Jr.; his sister Gay Ribar Cox, her husband Dr. Shannon Cox, their children William, Martha and Adam; and Diann, mother of his children. God is good all the time and Bill's life was a wonderful witness for Christ. We praise God for the blessing Bill was in each of our lives. He will be dearly missed with love indescribable. His funeral service will be held at Hyde Park Baptist Church on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. Hyde Park Baptist Church Pastor Kie Bowman, Christ Community Church Pastor Ray McCollum and Promise Land Church Pastor Randy Phillips will all be speaking in memory of our dear Dad. A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Christ Community Church in Austin, Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, or Promise Land Church in Austin. "We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:13-19 Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
