Bobby D. Reese passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 8, 2016. Bobby was born on July 21, 1929 to Marshall and Margaret Reese in Yoakum, TX. He is the Beloved husband to Loraine Reese Lempa for 67 years, and dearest father to Randy, James, Barbara (Jim) Templeton, Kathy (John) Stern, Teresa (John) Carroll, Jennifer (George) Smith, and daughter- in-law Claudette. He was very proud of his 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren (soon to be 8).
Bobby was preceded in death by his second born son Tim, his parents, 3 brothers and sister.
Bobby’s father worked for the Railroad which moved his family to several communities throughout Central Texas; his High School years were spent in Lockhart, TX. In Lockhart, he was drum major for the High School Marching Band. It was also in Lockhart where he met his lifelong sweetheart Loraine at Rogers Ranch Dance Hall.
Bobby was a printer by trade and worked for the Lockhart Post Register, San Marcos Daily and Austin American Statesman Newspapers. He spent his final years as a printer working for the University of Texas Printing Division. After his retirement from printing, he worked as a Patent Safety Advocate at Seton Medical Center and Brackenridge Hospital. He was admired by the administration and staff for his work ethic and the compassionate care he provided to all the patients he assisted. In early April, Bobby had a massive stroke and became a patient at Brackenridge and Seton Hospitals. The top-notch care he received by his friends at Brackenridge and Seton was truly amazing and very much appreciated by his family.
Bobby loved traveling to Las Vegas, Padre Island, playing cards, nurturing his Pecan Trees, watching westerns, fishing and long drives in the country. He enjoyed watching football with all his snacks laid out in an orderly fashion so as not to jinx his favorite team. He especially liked U.T college football and the Dallas Cowboys. He has a quick wit and demonstrated it on a regular basis. Bobby deeply loved his faith and practice it daily. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
