Honor Flight Austin, 9/21.  Bruce and Jim Garrow

Jim had suffered an injury shortly before the trip, and was confined to a wheelchair.  When his Marine guardian downloaded his pictures for me, I realized that Bruce had no doubt curtailed his own activities to accompany Jim.  There was Bruce, usually in the background, watching over his fellow vet - no discussion, no fanfare.  Just humbly choosing service, as he had done his whole life.

I’m heartbroken that we didn’t get to say goodbye.  Rest easy, quiet hero.



Sad to hear the news about my old pal Brucie. Haven’t seen or spoken to him in years since retirement, but I have many fond memories of him working with the big stars on movie sets in Austin. He always had a great smile and great sense of humor and everyone loved him. 
 Also, Bruce and Big Cheese Gary Morrison were my co-conspirators with my proposal to my wife. Condolences to his family. May he rest in forever peace.  -Joey Hudgins

One of our many "Motor Family" ski trips to Pagosa Springs / Wolfcreek.    Motor Sgts,  L-R,  David Walker, Bruce Lutringer, Gary Morrison & Mike Hugman. 

I came back to Motor's in 2003 as a Sargeant.  Bruce was a Sgt on another Motor shift.  We worked movies together, took a cross-country M/C trip together in 2013 and went skiing almost every winter.  My 3 sons grew up with my Motor family and shared some good memories.  This is my oldest, Chris, with Bruce in Park City, Utah in 2012.  Bruce's passing was a blow to all of us.

Bruce and I shared allot of the same life experiences; we are the same age, both in the US Navy at the same time on different ships, both of us worked southwest Austin on patrol and later worked together in Highway enforcement and both retired from the Austin Police Department. 
Bruce and I always teased each other every time we met and he always made me laugh. After we both retired he called me frequently about getting my veterans hearing aids and disability. Which I finally applied for and now received. 
My brother Gods speed and I will see you again in our Lords house. 

I worked with Bruce in robbery at APD and have many wonderful memories.  He was a great guy that always had a kind word and a smile for you.  The world lost a sweet man but heaven certainly gained a fine man.  Rest in Peace brother.💙💙

Bruce is survived by his daughter Stephanie Brie Lutringer and Fiancé Jason Owings; Son Keaton Hunter Lutringer and Wife Lillie Ann Lutringer; Brother Gabriel Wayne Lutringer; Sister Carol Paulette Riley; Brother Andrew Ray Lutringer; Four grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.


Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lana Jean Lutringer; Parents Andrew William and Rosalie Betty Scotka Lutringer; Father-in-Law Joe Bob Lawrence Jr.; Brother Clay David Lutringer; Mark Logan and spouse Mary Kay Lutringer.
