A true Austinite, Calvin was born and raised in Austin, where he spent his life building a legacy of strength, laughter, and heart. For over 35 years, he worked as a dedicated printing press operator, retiring in 2017. He was married to the love of his life, Maryjane Jayroe, for 43 years, and together they raised their daughter Rachelle.
Calvin had a passion for the open road and lived for the freedom of riding his Harley Davidson—a love that began in his teenage years, though his family liked to joke that he was born on a bike. Along with his love of Harleys, he also had a deep appreciation for cool old cars, even building them in his younger days.
He was fiercely loyal, deeply loving, and never afraid to speak the truth. He stood up for the underdog and always had a story to tell, a laugh to share, and a joke ready. Calvin was a proud Lutheran and a man of faith, and his strong, independent spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Calvin is survived by his beloved wife, Maryjane Jayroe; his children, John Calvin Jayroe, Otis Jayroe, April Murchison Warden, and Rachelle Huff; and Papa to three grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother, William Jayroe, and his sister, Luanna Niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Winfield Jayroe Sr. and Anna Lou Tolbert Jayroe.
Per Calvin’s request, no formal services will be held.
