Carlos was a lifelong resident of Austin who graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin in 1957 for two years. During his teenage years, Carlos was an elite amateur boxer who represented the State of Texas in the National Golden Gloves tournament in Chicago in 1960. After enlisting in the Marines in 1956, Carlos traveled to Germany and much of Europe while in the service and experienced new ways of life and hardships, one of those being the building of the Berlin Wall. While in Germany, Carlos learned Data Process Equipment operating and programming and that was his starting point to a long career in Computer Programming with the City of Austin and State of Texas. Carlos went on to retire from the State of Texas with over 40 years of service. While raising his three kids, Carlos, Lupe, and their children enjoyed traveling. The two-week trips they would take every summer to California, Florida, Canada, and Mexico to name a few of many locations were memories that have lasted a lifetime. After retirement, Carlos and Lupe even enjoyed traveling on their own to Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Carlos will be remembered by his faithfulness to the Catholic Church, his wife, children, grandchildren, family, friends, and acquaintances. Carlos was a patient, hardworking, selfless, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all!
