Born on November 29, 1953, in Sto. Tomas, La Union, Agoo, Republic of the Philippines, Mely was the daughter of Fernando Dacanay and Juanita Lopez. She was also cared for and raised by her foster mother, Maria De Guzman, and stepmother, Simfrosa Thomas. In her late teens, she met her step-sisters, Crescencia, Rosalie, and Gloria, and step-brothers, Ben and Doming, with whom she formed meaningful relationships.
Mely married the love of her life, Michael P. Revord, on May 5, 1979, after meeting while he was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Together, they built a beautiful life, and she took immense joy in being a mother to their daughter, Jarvis T. Revord.
She dedicated over three decades to her career as a Wafer Fabrication Technician, working with commitment and loyalty at a facility that transitioned through companies such as AMD and Spansion, where she was admired for her strong work ethic and hard work.
Outside of work, Mely found comfort and joy in life's simple pleasures, especially in her garden. More than a place of beauty, it was a refuge from life's stresses and a source of peace. She nurtured her plants with the same kindness and care she gave to those she loved. Gardening was not just a hobby for her but a form of therapy and a way to connect with the world around her.
Cooking was an expression of love for Mely, particularly when it came to the food of her homeland. She was deeply committed to making sure her friends and family always had enough to eat and drink. Mely's hospitality and warmth were evident in everything she did, making everyone feel welcome, cared for, and appreciated.
Mely embodied kindness, strength, and selflessness. Though she would often tell those she encountered that they were the ones with a big golden heart, it was truly her own that shone the brightest. She carried deep gratitude for everyone she met, treating all with the same generosity, warmth, and loyalty—whether a loved one or a passing acquaintance. Her legacy of compassion and profound generosity will be remembered always.
