Carmen married Frank Rangel Solis in 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. They were happily married for 67 years. Carmen was a parishioner of Christo Rey Catholic Church and San Jose Catholic Church. She enjoyed caring for her family and instilling the virtues of education as a way to becoming a good citizen, cooking healthy meals, gardening, as well as volunteering to collect donations for the March of Dimes and as a neighborhood Chicano art curator for the Chicano Art Museum when it first opened in East Austin.
Though she didn't get to obtain a formal education past the 4th grade, she was an intelligent woman who learned how to be thrifty and save for a rainy day. She was a courageous caregiver to her family members and was a wonderful nurse to her ailing father and daughter and husband in their times of illness and old age.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Olga Leticia Solis and her spouse, Frank Rangel Solis.
Carmen is survived by her children: Connie Solis Choothesa (Pat) of San Diego, CA, Frank Solis, Jr., Richard Solis (Laura) of Memphis, TN, Edward Solis, John Solis; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
