My beautiful mother, Carnicia Humphery, was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas on March 27, 1976. She spent her life bringing joy to others by making people laugh, cracking jokes, and simply being herself. Her smile and sense of humor could light up any room, and she had a special way of making people feel happy just by being around her.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her three beautiful children. She did everything she could to make sure we felt loved, supported, and happy. We were her heart and seeing us smile brought her greatest joy. She gave us everything she had to give us the best life she possibly could.
My mom also loved my father deeply. They were together for over 30 years, and wherever she was, my dad was right beside her, loving her and standing with her until the very end.
Family meant everything to my mom. She loved spending time together, whether we were going out of town or just riding around Austin, Texas to see downtown and enjoy the moment. Those simple times meant the world to her.
My mom also had a deep love for teaching. Teaching was not just a job to her; it was her dream. She did not call her students, students; she called them her kids. She truly cared about them and wanted to make a difference in their lives. She would come home smiling from ear to ear, telling us stories about her day and all the fun she had with her kids at work. Making an impact on their lives was exactly what she was meant to do.
She loved playing bingo, singing karaoke with our family, and trying new foods. No matter what it was, she was always willing to try it as long as her family was with her.
She loved her nieces and nephews deeply, always telling them stories about growing up with their mother. She also helped raise other nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own.
My mom shared an unbreakable bond with her oldest sister. No matter what, she would call her just to talk, laugh, or simply hear her voice. She also loved her youngest sister with all her heart and cared for her from the moment she was born, like she was her own child. My mom was loving, kind, free spirited, and an amazing woman that everyone loved being around. Above all, she was brave. She never let anything stand in her way. She showed everyone around her that nothing is impossible, no matter how many odds were against her. She lived life on her own and never stopped fighting.
Mom, I love you so much. You put up a brave fight. I am heartbroken that you are no longer here with us, but I find peace knowing you are no longer in pain. This is not goodbye; it is until I see you again. Until I see you smiling again. Until I see your beautiful smile. Until I can be in your arms again and tell you how much I love you.
Fly high, my little dove.
I love you forever and always, infinity x infinity, Mommy.
